Ang Corny!

Mais! Mais mo diha!

I have mentioned on this blog that my husband had called me the "Prito Queen" before and I think I'll have to live with that because that is the easiest way for me to prepare a dish. A few days ago, I went to Costco and bought a few stuff for the house and also grabbed some meat for next week. I bought one small pack of fillet mignon and a couple of pounds of spare ribs. I'll fry fillet mignon steak and barbecue the spare ribs I bought.

On the way home, I thought I'd go to safeway and buy two ears of corn for dinner. That reminded me that there is one farm close to us that grows their own corn. And I bet it'll be cheaper than at safeway. So I swing by there at the farm and sure enough, they were selling corn :)

5 ears of corn for a dollar! Well, this is better that buying at the regular store because one ear of corn is like 50 cents. And sometimes if you really go to buy them at the farms, they are more cheaper and fresher. Hey, don't get me wrong you know. I am no cheapskate. Its just that It doesn't make sense going to the store and spend 2 bucks for 4 ears of corn while you can get it at the farm for 5 ears of corn for a dollar. Do the math!

So I bought like ten dollars worth. Gave some to my MIL and kept the rest. I just told my husband that we should take advantage of this abundance of corn because when winter comes, we won't be having corn that often. Well, potatoes are good substitute though but I still like corn.

Four months to go..

Ahh..last day of July today. Time flies so fast nowadays. Summer has gone by so fast and fall is coming so soon. Hubby and I are happy that we will not be experiencing cold weather for a month but then again it'll be replaced with the scorching heat in the PI. But what the heck, we only get to visit my home town every 2 or 3 years.

Only four months and 2 weeks before we go to our long awaited vacation. I'm having goosebumps thinking about it! I'm sure it'll be so fun. I have to make a list of things that we will be doing when we get there so there shouldn't be any wasted time or day. I want David to have as much as fun as he can and enjoy his holiday vacation. Hubby deserves this vacation more than me. He's so hard working.

We are getting so close!

Good night!

It is 9:25pm here PST. Time for me to hit the sack :) Maybe in a little while. I feel like reading one of my HP books again...just missing it I guess.

Good night and good morning! We'll catch you guys tomorrow! I love you all :) Mwah!

Weekend spent in San Francisco

Last Friday was hectic. Lots of things happened..good things I must say. It was very unexpected that David and I would get tickets to a SF Giants game on Saturday. It was short notice indeed. We can't say no because we were both excited to see Tim Lincecum pitch :) Pogi sya masyado..papable talaga! Anyway, so my Friday afternoon was spent looking for hotels in SF and closer to AT&T Park. The Marriott Hotel that we stayed last was fully booked! I am pissed! You know why? Because Marriott Hotel is only 3/4 of a mile walk and I do hate walking :) And this is only the hotel that is not charging much for only an overnight stay. I checked the Parc55 which fortunately they do have vacancies BUT it was like $499 per night. Oh my gosh!! That is too much! I can't afford that lol..so expensive. And so I called some hotels and such and everything was fully booked because of the festivities that weekend in SF. I've heard that there'll be a jazz festival somewhere in downtown SF and the SF Giants playing of course. Well, I was fortunate to book a room at the Hyatt Regency. For $259 per night I was happy :) And the reason hubby and I stayed at the hotel and instead of going to SF and just drive home was because we have to go to San Mateo for the Camp Yahoo festivity. With the gas price and all and the hassle of driving going back and forth from Morgan Hill to San Mateo would be a nightmare!

Our hotel stay was glorious! I highly recommend Hyatt Regency in SF. Our room was clean and our hotel views was perfect. We can see the Embarcadero Street and the Bay Bridge just in front of our hotel room! Perfect :) We had complimentary breakfast in the morning, snack and fruits in mid day and dessert and cookies after dinner. So good! Though the noise from down below the street was a bit annoying but later that night it died down so all is well :)

We then watched the 6pm game at the AT&T park. It was all good fun. Tim Lincecum pitched till the bottom of 7th inning I think and till that inning everything was alright. Except they lost because of their stupid manager's decision to pull out Lincecum prematurely and cost them to lose the game. Tim was still good to pitch for another inning but what do we know the manager has another stupid plan in mind! But it was a great game I think. Lincecum almost beat Schmidt record of 16 strikeouts in a game. Lincecum had 13 strikeouts. If he only stayed for another inning or two, he could have break the record! Surely, another let down for the SF Giants fans. Oh well, Tim will have his time.

And our Camp Yahoo day was good. Met a nice family there that my friend knows. There were tons of food, dessert and good grub there at the Camp. I wish David and I can attend the Christmas party but we'll probably 30 thousand some feet up in the air by then heading to PI.

Alright, that's all I can remember hehe.

Oh by the way. David and I were such ignorants lol. We don't know how to take the Muni haha. Well, Muni is a transportation in the city where it takes you from point A to point B. Only in the city though, I think? We went into the underground station and we're looking at the people how they get tickets or coins and what not lol. One of these days we have to learn to take public transport. We are so used of taking our car. Much easier though for us. Well, whatever is most comfortable and available :)

Pictures will be available on this entry later on. I have to get a Frappuccino at Starbucks :)

My cooking and some groceries..

My home cooked meal! Corn-Caesar Salad-Bbq Ribs

I love to cook but I don't like cleaning after the mess that I've made after cooking. Though I know that cooking at home is very cheap and can save us tons of money and it is more healthier, I sometimes don't really feel the jive of cooking. I am one lazy girl whose used to buying ready to made food. Blame it on my husband!Lol. He introduced me to Burger King and Burritos :)

I was calculating our expense a month ago for food and I was really shocked that it was really high. David and I usually don't eat breakfast. Our breakfast is our lunch already and sometimes we just go to starbucks to get a quick meal there (Coffee and coffee cake or their breakfast meal) and that's it for the next six hours. Then dinner time would consist of either pizza, burger, burritos, Chinese food and other easy to get fast food. And this routine would happen the next day again. I sometimes miss the way we market back in the PI. You just buy whatever you like to prepare for the day and its not that expensive. The markets in the PI are just a tricikad drive away and compared to here, you have to do your grocery good for a week and sometimes two weeks at the most.

Most things here are bought by bulk if you want to save money. Like the picture above, you can purchase dishwasher soap lesser quantities but you pay more if you buy them at the regular store without discount. It would take me at least 6 months to finish 90 counts of dish washer detergent. Saves me money!

We are going to a Giants game!!!

Oh we are excited! It's been a while since hubby and I went to a baseball game. We are very fortunate to get two tickets to a San Francisco Giants game for tomorrow. Thanks to our wonderful resource, hubby and I can spend our Saturday night in the big city. And I think that hubby and I deserve this kind of luxurious night out (I'd say it is luxurious because we have to stay in a hotel whenever we go to San Francisco because of long drive, trouble finding parking and other stuff) since we don't do this often. From what I can recall the last time we went and saw a game was last year of October. I guess that is 9 months ago. Since then, we haven't been to any places at all. It'll be fun and I'll take lots of pictures tomorrow and will definitely share it with you guys!

I wish everyone a great weekend!

Nag shopping ko og gamay lang...

Today's payday so we have money lol! And I went shopping already..bad me :( Nah, I just went and bought two pair of slippers for Sunday's event. Hubby and I are going to a picnic affair tomorrow from his work. I bought these slippers because I didn't have something to match my haltered top and my crop shorts that I bought this morning at TJMAXX (my fave store to shop).

I bought these slippers or flip flops at Payless shoe store. They were on sale which is good! I saved some moolah :)

No more plucking!

I have been fortunate enough that I don't really use any kind of deodorant. No tawas, no secret, no kalamansi whatsoever. I do perspire but not to the point that I will stink later on..lol

Anyway, I do pluck the hair off of my armpits (TMI ba?) and I don't really have that much hair. But I have trouble plucking them as I can't really reach my armpits that much. A few days ago, my husband told me that why don't I try waxing since I don't have much hair and their very thin.

And so I tried it yesterday and Voila!! Oh my gosh!! I can't believe the result :) My armpits feels so smooth and no hair at all. It took me atleast 10 minutes to do the routine.

Thank you Wax!

More Pasalubong

I went and shopped again for pasalubong a couple of days ago. Little by little I will definitely fill three balikbayan box before October comes. Hubby and I are just so excited!!! 4 1/2 months to go and we will be in the Pi in no time. I'm quite nervous though. I don't know why..maybe its the excitement that is making me so nervous.

I have to buy essential stuff for David and I to use in Davao like insect repellent, shaving cream for him, baby wipes etc. A friend of mine said that buy all these stuff here in the US because it is much cheaper. And I will definitely count on her words on that one!lol.

Who is that doggy in the back of the truck?

It was Friday afternoon when I took the picture above. I was bored and I didn't know what to do next so I thought of taking pictures of my two cutie poodles. They both love to go out and sniff around. Both of them just love to be out.

My favorite part of this picture is that when I took the pic, both poodles looked away from each other. And the shadow from the trees gives a dramatic look in the picture..nice eh?

Good reading

It seems like forever since I had started reading Harry Potter. It took me atleast a month or so to read the whole series. In between work and other things I do, I make sure to have time to read HP. When I read any novel, I make sure that I read word by word so I can really understand what I'm reading. Not that I am a slow reader but I Imagine the things that happened in the book. Well, I've read the whole Harry Potter series. From book one (Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone to Deathly Hallows). Finished the last one last night. I think by far, it is the best books I have ever read in my entire life! I loved it! Though the Deathly Hallows almost made me cry throughout the whole book. So much loss of great friends just to make the world a better place for others to live in. I can't help but cry my eyes out last night :( I take that it was a bit of a sad ending for me....that's all..

The HP movies were great but you really have to read the book. There's more to it than the movie.

I can't wait to see the next movie though :) It'll be out this fall I think.

Love conquers all!

Just me..

I was invited to go to Yahoo's Sunnyvale July 4th party. Actually, David wanted to go to the party but he has to go to work so I represented him for the party. It was fun because (like everyone knows that Yahoo throws out great party) there was a live band. Food was great too! I received a Tiki mug because Operations staff (David included) has to have one for souvenir I guess. Anyway, I had a great time. I also met few important people there which is nice :)
